I’m not sure there’s anything cuter than this story of a young goblin-witch Beetle, her new best friend Blob Ghost (an agender Blob Ghost who’s mysteriously bound to the about-to-be-demolished local mall), and her old best friend (and necromancer sorceress) Kat Hollowbone, who just might become her girlfriend by the story’s end.

In a nutshell, this book is pretty much nothing but pure joy. It had me from the start and kept me in a beautiful bearhug of a chokehold til its last pages.

Oh sweet lord jesus, WHY did I not listen to all the reviews? WHY did I not pay attention when I heard this was BAD BAD BAD? WHY am I like this?

Wow. This fucking book. It might be erotica AND a Hades and Persephone retelling (2 things I never thought I’d recommend), but it’s the damn best erotica or Hades and Persephone retelling I’ve ever encountered. Hell, it’s one of the best books PERIOD I’ve read all year.

This is a super-fast read, and even though I couldn’t get past page 3 in any other Lucy Foley thriller, for some reason this one worked for me.

This is an absolutely beautiful book. I could gush about it all day, but the core fact is that Rebekah Weatherspoon has written a glorious ode to kindness, unrealistically inclusive small towns, snarky humor (this book is fucking funny!!), and assertively finding joy and happiness in the midst of life’s hardships.

This book is basically pure serotonin, a novel that fully accomplishes what it says in the subtitle (“a novel of high fantasy and low stakes”).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHHHH! Oh my good lord, is this book a trip. It’s utter bonkers nonsense, but I had a good time.

This sapphic romance is an utter delight!! It’s the perfect not-too-frothy, not-too-heavy romcom for Pride month!

Ugh, this book is so sweet!! 2 parts Our Flag Means Death, 1 part academic nostalgia, and 7 parts gay joy, this book is all heart.
